The beautiful Somerset countryside is both where we live and where our holiday properties are, therefore if should hardly be surprising that our roots lie within agriculture. In fact Woodlands
Retreats HQ is based on our working, mixed arable farm along with approximately 800 ewes and lambs, a group of friendly chickens, ducks and quails, one Kune Kune Pig called Poppy
and our two dogs, Tess & Hamish.

Somerset is also home to the Royal Bath & West Show, an annual event with agriculture at the heart of the show. Running across four days and falling over Half Term this year, it’s a popular day out for the whole family. Along with a variety of stalls and entertainment, you can expect to see livestock, sheep sheering, show-jumping and much more.

Given the Westcountry is famous for it’s cheese and cider, it seems fitting that the show also hosts the British Cider Championships and The British Cheese Awards. Yum!

So if you’re staying with us this half term and are looking for something to do, this could well be the perfect choice for a taste of rural life.
