Retreat Venues

Beyond the Somerset Levels nestled in the tranquil foothills of Glastonbury you will find Upper Woodlands, our inspiring retreat venue that combines beautiful properties (available to book individually or the whole site exclusively) with outstanding spa and event facilities.

There are 18 luxurious bedrooms across the site which can sleep up to 36 people in 25 separate beds, with all apart from two bedrooms with their own en-suite bathrooms (the remaining two have jack & jill shared access) ensuring the very high quality your guests will be looking for. The Milking Parlour event space is the perfect setting for any classes or group activities you have planned with a flexible central space that can be used as needed, with additional break out rooms and stunning kitchen facilities, this space offers the ideal central hub for your retreat. The Sedum Spa can also be booked for private sessions and has a 12 x 5m low chlorine indoor pool, 4 treatment rooms (therapists are available or you are welcome to bring your own), a sauna, hot tub and an extensive gym area. 

We are blessed with plenty of space at Upper Woodlands, with The Paddock area offering a well groomed 1.5 acre playground for whatever activities you have planned or if you'd like additional Yurts or Tipis for additional accommodation or event spaces. There are a further 90 acres of grounds and open fields in which to explore with maps provided to ensure no one gets lost or if you prefer, Glastonbury Tor is located 4 miles from the property and provides stunning views from this ancient and spiritual mecca.

  • Upper Woodlands (exclusive use) – sleeps 36 in 18 bedrooms
  • Woodlands Farmhouse – sleeps 14 in 7 bedrooms
  • The Cider Barn – sleeps 12 in 6 bedrooms
  • Swallow’s Orchard – sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms

We also have an additional two rooms in our event space The Milking Parlour which can be used for overnight accommodation.

Retreat Venue Features
  • The Parlour Room event space can accommodate 20 comfortably for Yoga or similar available to book by the room or the whole building can booked exclusively. 
  • Glastonbury, the spiritual capital of the UK is located 4 miles from Upper Woodlands. 
  • Spa treatments are available in-house team or you are welcome to bring your own team. 
  • 90 acres of fields to explore and walk.
  • The Paddock outdoor recreation space can be booked for additional yurts/tipis or used as an open space. 
  • The Hay Loft & Tack Room consultation spaces/treatment spaces can be used as a bedroom and an additional foldaway bed can be added to each room if required - both are ensuite. 
  • The Spa pool area can be booked for private sessions - 2hrs per property booked per day. 
  • The commercial kitchen in The Milking Parlour includes two five ring induction hobs, three ovens, a large fridge and chest freezer. Plates, crockery, cutlery, glasses (wine & hi-ball) are available. 
  • There are two toilets available with hire of The Parlour Room.

The Milking Parlour

The Milking Parlour is our events space located in the grounds of Upper Woodlands, Woodlands Farmhouse, The Cider Barn & Swallow’s Orchard. It’s a multi-purpose space which can be hired in addition to your accommodation – this could be booking it for an evening big celebration meal (with tables and chairs provided) or as an open space for your morning yoga class.

Sedum Spa

Located within the grounds of Upper Woodlands, Woodlands Farmhouse, The Cider Barn and Swallow's Orchard. The Sedum Spa facility is shared between these properties, bringing the Spa hotel experience to the self-catering sector.

    Treadmill, spin bikes, concept II rower, cross trainer & a variety of free weights and cable crossover machine. (cost included with accommodation bookings).

  • Massage Therapies

    We have an experienced team on hand with a wide range of treatments available, or you are welcome to bring your own team.

The Paddock

Our outdoor recreational space can be booked for group activities or simply as an open space at no additional charge. If you’d like to hire in additional Yurts or Tipis (arranged separately) for extra accommodation or event spaces, this is the place for them to go.

    Given our location close to Glastonbury, the alternative capital of the UK, we can recommend a number of therapists to offer classes or talks on a wide spectrum of subjects or disciplines.

    If you are planning a visit to the many local areas of interest, we can recommend a good team to get you there.

  • Anything within reason

    That will make your retreat the best it can be!
