Hen Experiences At Upper Woodlands

Once you have agonisingly chosen your perfect house with us for your hen weekend, you will probably be looking for something to do whilst you’re there - Upper Woodlands may hold the solution;  beautifully located in the foothills of Glastonbury Tor, it is the home to three of our properties; Woodlands Farmhouse, The Cider Barn and Swallow's Orchard.

It is also where you will find our stunning facilities; The Sedum Spa & The Milking Parlour event space. A day at Upper Woodlands is the perfect way to celebrate your big weekend creating the perfect blend of relaxation and more strenuous activity should you so choose.

This option is available to;

  • The properties located on site at Upper Woodlands; Woodlands Farmhouse, The Cider Barn & Swallow's Orchard. 
  • Lower Hedge Farm & Portman House (15 min drive) as well as guests from Little Cheriton House (30 min drive).
  • Experiences at Upper Woodlands are not available to guests of Higher Burrow Farm, Rock Farm or Smokeham Farm which are geographically further a field.
The Sedum Spa
  • Poolside passes include use of the 12 x 5m low chlorine indoor pool, pool lounging area, sauna, relaxation space & refreshment room (drinks at an additional cost). £22.50pp for 2 hours. For guests staying on the Upper Woodlands site, there is no additional cost.
  • Massage therapies in our four treatment rooms from £40 for 25 min and £70 for 55 min. Minimum of 2 hours of treatments required.

The Milking Parlour

The Parlour Room main event space (and Parlour kitchen if required) can be booked at a cost of £150 per 1hr 45 min session. Ideal for group classes or activities such as Yoga, a dance class, a craft workshop or (within reason) whatever weird and wonderful activity you can come up with!

The Paddock

The Upper Woodlands site is blessed with plenty of space and for any outdoor activities we have The Paddock, a 1.5-acre well-maintained outdoor recreational area. This space can accommodate a variety of pre-arranged activities, such as inflatables, archery and much more. While these activities could be organised at your property (space permitting) you can also choose to enhance your visit to Upper Woodlands by booking a zone in The Paddock for £10 per person in your group for 2 hours. N.B. There is no additional cost for groups staying on-site at Upper Woodlands.

Wraxall Vineyard

Located just a 10 minute drive from Upper Woodlands (and 10 minutes closer to Lower Hedge Farm, Portman House and Little Cheriton House) Wraxall Vineyard has some quite stunning vistas at the very aptly name ‘The View’ – a striking venue where you can book an exquisite tasting session and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the vines whilst receiving an education in the art of wine making and wine tasting. Lunch options are also available.

Just 1 mile up the road, The Lion at West Pennard can provide the perfect interlude to your day at Upper Woodlands, with a delicious variety of dishes to choose from either a la carte or sandwich options.
